So, you’re thinking of coming to Oklahoma State University for college? You may be wondering what exactly there is to do in what people call the “Paris of the Prairie.” Well, let me give you some tips! Leaving home and coming to college for the first time can be scary, but it should also be super exciting. This is a time where you may be branching out from your home and family for the first time. After you finish decorating your super cute dorm room, it’s time to get out and explore your new home. Here are some places that I think you should check out.

RETAIL THERAPY!

WOODEN NICKEL

Wooden Nickel is the go to place for students to shop when looking for a cute new outfit. Both men and women can find an awesome new outfit here. Wooden Nickel offers plenty of brands to choose from, such as Free People and Voluspa candles. If you are a fashion major or just have a nag for fashion, this will be your favorite place!

PECKS LODGE

Pecks Lodge is a super cute gift shop. It is the perfect place to go to if you’re looking to get a cute and unique present for someone. It is located on Knoblock street, in the second story of the strip of buildings. You will be immersed with cute plates, candles, and other fun toys.

WALLS

Walls is best place to go to if you’re looking for some deals. It is a huge resale store with low price items such as Marc Jacobs and Target brand clothes. You can walk in and spend hours in here and still not get a chance to look at everything. Whether you’re looking for new clothes, shoes, decorations, or even a new couch, Walls is the place to go.

THE ROLLER DOME

Roller skating is such a fun activity that many Stillwater locals like to participate in. If you want to show off your skills, it is the perfect place to do so. Bring your camera and capture how fun and fashionable roller skating can be.

BOOMER LAKE

Boomer lake is a classic place to visit. On a beautiful sunny day, boomer is the perfect location for a walk, a bike ride, or a nice bask in the sun on the deck. No charge necessary to visit this beautiful Stillwater attraction.

COTTON FIELDS

Are you looking for a good photo opportunity? I’ve got one for you! Driving down Western street, you will pass a beautiful cotton field. There is an area off to the side where you can park if you feel inclined to go snap a few shots of the growing cotton.

PICNICS

On a sunny and warm spring day, why not picnic? Stillwater has some of the best food and picnic locations to choose from. So, grab some food, friends, and a blanket and head on down to Library Lawn, Boomer lake, or even on top of a parking garage and get to picnicking!

TUMBLEWEED

The Tumbleweed is the go to concert venue in Stillwater. Home of the Calf Fry festival, hundreds of country stars come to perform for a rowdy crowd. Everyone puts on their cowboy boots and grabs their cowboy hat and get ready to see their favorite country star.

IN THE MOOD FOR SOME GOOD FOOD!

ESKIMO JOE'S

Eskimo Joe’s is a classic place to eat in Stillwater. It is quite the tourist attraction for people who come in for game days or other special events. There are two parts of Eskimo Joe’s: the restaurant and the store. When walking in to Joe’s, you will enter the restaurant part, and if you happen to wait for a table, you should go check out the store. You will be surrounded with OSU gear and the classic tye dye Joe’s t shirts. And finally, when your buzzer goes off, I suggest you get the cheese fries with a side of ranch and you will not be disappointed.

CONEY

On the weekends, Coney is the place to go. Located on the strip, it is the perfect place to go once you leave the bars or if you are just in the mood for a greasy meal. Sometimes, the line will go out the door if you happen to go during their busy hours. Cheese fries, cheese tots, or a beautifully decorated hot dog are their most popular items.

NOOKI!

Mmmm, sushi! Nookie is a brand new sushi place located on the strip. Its eclectic vibe brings in a wide range of customers who are excited to try their many types of sushi. Nookie is very popular because there isn’t any other place like it in Stillwater! So, if you’re in the mood for some sushi, they are waiting for you!

RANCHERS CLUB!

Get dressed up! The Ranchers Club is a nice steakhouse located in the Atherton hotel right on campus. Ranchers is known for their amazing steaks and fancy dinners, but the most known quality is that you can use your meal plan here. Students love to eat here to get rid of their leftover meal plan money, but also for the environment. It is fun to get dressed up and have a fancy dinner with your significant other, your friends, or just to grab it to go.
